Museum was wonderful. The Ocean Liner exhibit was brilliant. A museum you should not miss. A wonderful addition to Dundee. The cafe on the entrance level is a wonderful place for a light meal or just a cup of tea. It is a museum that has something for every age group. The exterior of the building has rather interesting architecture reflecting the museums design concept.
Phenomenal architecture in stunning riverside site. Next to Discovery exhibition.Free entry. Special exhibits have an entry feee.g. the current one on luxury liner travel...well worth the money. Super cafe and restaurant. Unmissable design museum.
Really enjoyed the separate exhibition, but I wonder why it was all so dark (one room excepted) . Really hard to read the information about the exhibits!Menu in the upstairs restaurant also seems improved since opening.Waitress seemed very unengaged but other staff were cheery and helpful.
The building is even more fantastic in the flesh than it is in photographs. The current 'paid for' exhibition - ocean liners - is wonderful. It took us over three hours to go round it and it could easily have been more. By the end of that, we were 'designed out' and decided to come back the next day to do justice to the permanent Scottish design exhibition - just as well we did for this was another 3 hours. I'm already looking forward to another visit, maybe taking more time over selected highlights of Scottish design.
A little bizarre that the upstairs restaurant is by prior reservation only, leaving a fairly basic lobby cafe as the only other catering option.An excellent free exhibition of Scottish design down the centuries is supplemented by terrific pay to enter exhibitions. A really great addition to the Dundee waterfront landscape.
